The profile now has an upgraded grid for better item viewing. Reels now display friends who liked them, and Instagram (Meta) introduced a video editor called Edits, which is similar to CapCut from TikTok.

Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s director, revealed a new feature where users can now view friends who have liked a reel. This update will display in the top right corner of the reel while it is being watched.
Edits: the unused version of CapCut
Meta launched Edits, a new app intended to rival CapCut and TikTok in the United States, where CapCut was not utilized over the weekend. The app is expected to be accessible on iOS and Android soon. Notably, CapCut also has a desktop application, suggesting that Instagram may not introduce Edits for computers.
Instagram apps are difficult to run on computers, so it is unlikely that a desktop app will be released. CapCut may have an advantage in this aspect due to its advanced development progress.
If Instagram failed to acquire CapCut due to its ownership by TikTok’s parent company, they proceeded to replicate it. This situation reflects the common belief that nothing on the internet is truly original and everything is often imitated.
